Recently Prashant asked me the same question on YouTube and I promised him the solution. So here it’s.
Step 1: Open your Email app. For Android 5.0 and above, Google has integrated this custom email feature with the Gmail app. So if you are running lollipop then open your Gmail app > Settings > Add an account.
For this guide, I will post screenshots from my Nexus 7 running Android 5.1, but I have also tried it on moto e running KitKat and steps are same. Step 2: Under Add account, you will get three options — Google email service, other email service or your work email. Since we want to add work email, select exchange, and press OK. If you want to see setup your outlook or yahoo account select the second options i.e. personal. When in doubt between POP and IMAP, always use the later one. Though this won’t be important here.
Step 3: Enter your email account and tap on next. Do the same thing with your password.
Step 5: Once your login credentials are verified, you will have to enter your incoming server’s settings. This is tricky as the server setting varies according to your email service provider. To find your server’s details either do a Google search or ask your company’s network admin.
I have pushed my emails to Microsoft Outlook email service, so my server is m.hotmail.com. Found this information on Google. Step 6: Once you enter the server settings tap on next. If details you enter are correct, you will see different sync option asking you whether you want to sync your contacts and calendar from this email account. Make changes you like and then again tap on next.
If your server settings are not correct then you will see an error like “couldn’t open a connection to server”. Step 7: In the next screen enter the username you would like to see. This step is optional though. Once done click on next. And that’s it. Now you have successfully added your work email to Android phone.
