1. No Titles or Only One
It is possible that you no longer have any titles left for the Continue Watching list to display. Your partner may have finished watching that movie you were watching together. Some users found that when you have only 1 title in the list, it doesn’t appear. A simple solution is to open more titles and then close them. Now scroll to check if you can see the Continue Watching list on Netflix.
2. Title No Longer Available
Netflix is a streaming platform. While they do make their own content under the Originals banner, many movies and web series are produced by third parties. To stream that content, Netflix enters into a streaming rights agreement. That means your favorite title is on Netflix for a specific period of time and then will be removed. It is possible that the title you are looking for in the Continue Watching list has been removed because Netflix’s licensing agreement ended. A quick Google Search should reveal more details as there are many sites that cover what shows and movies will be added and removed from Netflix in the months to come.
3. Search for Title
A temporary but quick fix is to simply search for the title using the search bar. If you remember what you were watching, why waste time looking for it in Netflix’s Continue Watching list? Simply select the search button (magnify glass icon) to open the search bar and type the name of the title. Note: In the opening paragraph, we mentioned how Netflix now allows users to remove titles from the Continue Watching list. Maybe someone with access to your Netflix account removed the title from that list? Open the title and it will be readded to the list automatically.
4. Check My Activity
Netflix maintains a log of all your activities. Scary, I know. You can easily find what show or movie you were watching and on what dates.
- Click on the Profile icon and select Account.
- Scroll to the Profile & Parental Controls menu, find your profile, and click on the downward arrow to reveal more options.
- Find and click on Viewing activity.
- You should now see a list of all the titles with the date on which you were watching them. Click on the title name to open it.
5. Try Different Profile
Netflix allows you to create multiple profiles. This is so that different family members can each use their own profile and set it up as they like. After all, your viewing habits, searches, etc. affect what Netflix recommends to you. The same is true for the Continue Watching list too. Have you opened the wrong profile? You should see the profile icon in the upper right corner. If that doesn’t help, click on the profile icon to select a different profile from the drop-down menu.
6. Disable VPN
It has happened to us when traveling to a foreign country. When you enable VPN, Netflix will remove all titles from the Continue Watching list or the Continue Watching list will be completely gone. Disable VPN if you are using one to re-enable this feature.
7. Switch Internet Network
Several Reddit users found that changing their internet network from their Wi-Fi router to mobile hotspot or another Wi-Fi network brought back the Continue Watching list on the Netflix app. If this fixes your problem then call in your network or cable guy.
8. Sign Back In
An age-old trick that still works when you are dealing with apps. Simply click on the profile icon in the upper right corner of the screen and select the Sign out of Netflix option. Now sign in again.
9. Sign Out From All Devices
Since Netflix allows you to create multiple profiles, more than one person may be signed in at a given time and watch the same title as you want to. However, your plan determines how many devices can stream at the same time.
Basic and Mobile – only 1 device can stream Standard – only 2 devices can stream Premium – up to 4 devices can stream
Open the Change Plan Netflix page to know which plan you are subscribed to. If the number of devices limit is reached, it is possible that Netflix may not show the Continue Watching list or it does but you can’t open titles from there. To resolve this, sign out from all devices. To do that, simply visit the Manage Devices Netflix page and click on the Sign Out button to sign out of the selected account from all devices. Netflix introduced a new feature called Manage Access and Devices. Instead of signing out of all the devices, you can see a list of all the devices that have access to your Netflix account and remove the ones you don’t need or want.
10. Try Another Browser or Device
Maybe it is not a Netflix error that you can’t see the Continue Watching list. It could be a browser issue or something with the device you are using to open Netflix. Simply open Netflix using a different browser like Edge, Brave, etc. If Continue Watching list is showing up in a different browser, try refreshing the page or clearing the browser cache. Similarly, if changing the device like from desktop to mobile makes the problem go away, troubleshoot the device itself. Some solutions include rebooting, reinstalling the Netflix app, etc. Pro Tip: You can also stream Netflix right inside Discord now.
11. Select Manual Ordering in Settings
You can the order of the titles and sometimes this causes the Continue Watching list on your Netflix account to disappear. Go to My List Order page and select Manual Ordering and then click on Save to save the changes.
Netflix and Chill
The Continue Watching list option went some changes recently when Netflix added a new feature. As with all upgrades, that may have carried some bugs that should be ironed out in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, here is some food for thought. Did you know you can pay for Netflix without a credit card? Or, what happens when you actually cancel your Netflix subscription? You will be surprised to know.
